Great River Trail The Great River Trail is a mostly paved trail that runs parallel to Illinois Route 84 and the Mississippi River. It is open year-round to hikers, bikers, in-line skaters, joggers and cross-country skiers. The trail goes from Savanna to Rock Island, winding through wooded areas and farmland spaces of northern Illinois. Access: Access points to the trail are found at many of the cities that it runs through. |

Ralph B. Birks Bicycle Trail The Ralph B. Birks Bicycle Train is Moline's section of the Great River Trail. The trail is a 2.2 asphalt path along Rock Island (1st to 26th Streets) and the Ben Butterworth Memorial Parkway (26th to 55th Street). Running along the Mississippi River, this bicycle trail provides aesthetic sightseeing and wildlife opportunities as well as picnic areas. Access: Along the Mississippi River from 1st-55th streets. |

Long Prairie Trail The Long Prairie trail runs along Illinois Route 173 through Calendonia, Capron, Belvidere and Popular Grove. It is a paved trail for use by bikers, joggers, bladers and walkers. |

I&M Canal State Trail The Illinois and Michigan Canal State Trail follows the historic canal that connects Lake Michigan to the Illinois River. The canal was built between 1836 and 1848, forming a water route that linked the east coast to the Gulf of Mexico. Today the trail is used by hikers, bikers and snowmobilers and touches on many historic site along the way. No horses or other motorized vehicles are allowed on the trial because of its delicate condition Access: Access to the trial can be attained through many of the area's State Parks and in the towns that it runs through. |

Lincoln Prairie Trail The Lincoln Prairie Trail stretches from Pana, through Owaneco and ends at Taylorville. The paved path is roughly 15 mi (24 km) and follows Route 29, letting visitors to see the natural side of Central Illinois. Activities allowed on the trail include biking, walking, jogging and roller blading. There are several entrances to get onto the trail - one is just north of the Route 29 and Lake Taylorville Road Intersection. |

Moline Kiwanis Bike – Jog Trail This 6.5 mile crushed rock path located along the Rock River is open to bicyclers, joggers and walkers. Access: Along the Rock River from 7th to 60th Streets. |

Grand Illinois Trail The Grand Illinois Trail runs through many counties of northern Illinois, stretching from Lake Michigan in Chicago east to Galena, south to Moline and back to Chicago. Many attractions, accommodations and other facilities are found along the road. Bikers should be aware that the surface changes throughout the path, from pavement to gravel, and mountain bikes are recommended for several parts of the trail. Access: Many of the access points to the Grand Illinois Trail are made of local trails in the cities along the trail route. |

Jane Addams Trail The Jane Addams Trail is open year-round for bikers, hikers, snowmobilers and cross-country skiers. It is open daily from dawn until dusk, except during the shotgun deer season, which runs from the middle of November until the middle of December. The trail starts at the Illinois/Wisconsin state line and continues through Cedarville and Orangeville to Freeport. Access: Access points at at the Illinois/Wisconsin Stateline off Imobersteg Road, at the Richland Creek Trailhead NW of Orangeville, at Buena Vista, at Red Oak, at Scioto Mills and at the Wes Block Trail north of Freeport. |

Tunnel Hill State Trail Once a railroad route, this trail stretches from Harrisburg to Karnak, and continues from Karnak to Cache River State Natural Area. The trail passes through flat farm country, a lush wetland and a swamp. Prairie flowers and oak trees adorn the trail's landscape. |
